Balancing law and life: How Sierra Legal’s team members turned 2025 into a year of sporting success
Back to news archiveAt Sierra Legal, we believe success goes beyond the office. Our flexible and remote working model allows team members to pursue their passions outside of work while continuing to deliver excellence for clients. In 2025, several of our team members demonstrated just how much can be achieved when professional dedication and personal passion go hand in hand.
Jocelyn Neumueller capped off her 2025 competitive season with a win at the U.S. Open Adaptive Surfing Championships in September - a result that secured her fourth consecutive Association of Adaptive Surfing Professionals (AASP) World Championship Tour title. Earlier in the year, she also claimed another Australian title at the Australian Para Surfing Championships in Byron Bay in March.
Ellie Sanford excelled on the track, placing 5th in the 800m at the Australian National Championships in April before competing in three races on the Japan Tour Series in Hiroshima, Fukuroi, and Osaka. She then raced across Europe during the summer athletics circuit (June–August), competing in Czechia, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Switzerland.
Mike Jeffery showcased his endurance in off-road bike racing, including the Gravel N Granite event in Tenterfield, Sunday Creek Classic, Noosa Enduro and BVRT End2End event.
Craig Sanford continued to impress on the track, becoming national champion in the 800m and silver medallist in the 1500m (50–59 age group) at the 2025 Australian Masters Championships in April. He also competed in an 800m race in England in July.
Jocelyn credits Sierra Legal’s flexible working approach with enabling her to pursue both her legal and sporting ambitions:
“Balancing a professional sporting career with a career in law is challenging, but Sierra Legal’s flexible approach to remote work has made it possible. Adding another World Championship Tour title this year was an incredible experience, and the firm’s flexible and remote working model has allowed me to perform at my best.”
These achievements highlight the value of flexibility and work-life balance - principles that Sierra Legal has embraced for over 15 years.
